معرفی ۶۸۸۰
این مدل یک سوییچ تجمیع Fixed به لحاظ عدم امکان اضافه کردن لاین کارت بوده که برای ارائه خدمات BackBone برروی سرعت ۱۰G و با تعداد بالا و در حجم کم بسیار مفید می باشد.پشتیبانی کامل از VPLS/MPLS/IPV۶/VRF/VSS و تکنولوژی هایی که در لایه Dist شبکه مورد استفاده قرار میگیرد از ویژگی های مهم این محصول می باشد.
این سوییچ به صورت پیش دارای ۱۶ پورت ۱/۱۰G می باشد که امکان ارتقای آن به ۸۰ پورت در هر سوییچ وجود دارد.
(در صورت استفاده از هر چهار اسلات )
امکان استفاده از پاور افزونه به منظور افزایش پایداری شبکه نیز از دیگر ویژگی های این مدل مب اشد.

هر اسلات توان گذردهی ۲۲۰ گیگ پهنای باند و هر ر سوییچ دارای ظرفیت ۲ ترابیت در ثانیه را دارا می باشند که در صورت استفاده از VSS این عدد به ۴ ترابیت می رشد.
ویژگی های اولیه و مزایایی این مدل :
- Platform Scalability: The platform supports up to ۲۲۰Gbps slot capacity per port-card. It supports up to ۲Tbps of switching capacity, which doubles up to ۴Tbps with VSS technology.

- Virtualization: Comprehensive suite of Virtualization features including L۲/L۳ VPN, full MPLS, EVN, VRF aware applications for NAT Netflow, GRE for v۴/v۶, L۲ extensions with VPLS etc. to segment different user groups and serve unique security/QoS policy requirements of each of these diverse user groups.
- Application Visibility and Control (AVC): Supports enhanced application monitoring such as Flexible and Sampled NetFlow for intelligent and scalable application monitoring.
- Smart Operations: The Cisco Catalyst ۶۸۸۰-X supports Catalyst Instant Access*, which allows an Instant Access Client to act as a remote line card of the Cisco Catalyst ۶۸۸۰-X, as well as Smart Install Director, which provides zero-touch deployment of access switches.
- High Availability: Two Cisco Catalyst ۶۸۸۰-X Series Switches can be combined into a VSS. In addition to high-availability VSS, provides ease of operation by providing a single point of management, eliminating the need for First Hop Routing Protocol (FHRP) and removing the reliance on Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) for link failure restoration.
